hi i'm helen. im currently in industrial engineering at the university of toronto. i love creating art (in the form of calligraphy), taking pictures (mostly the aesthetic type), listening to music, and randomly coding things like this purely because i want to :)
i started this the very first day of winter break 2024, feeling super inspired to create the site of my dreams and here i am! this is just a place for me to share my thoughts, have a little bit of a portfolio for the different parts of my life that i love, and to just make my ideas come to life.

on a secondary note, this is also a place for me to find my roots, to find myself, to feel like me. for me, i had a pretty rough awakening upon entering university and at times, it feels like i've lost a part of myself. in part, it is mainly because i have a significant lack of time to enjoy the activities that make me happy. i was able to visit hong kong recently, and it really hit home how much i've missed feeling like i belong somewhere. i'm an only child to my parents who are both immigrants from hong kong (well, it's a little bit complicated which i won't explain here) and growing up, i was really immersed in hong kong media. i really loved it, don't get me wrong, but it's always felt incredibly hard to connect with others my age here in toronto. and so, i decided that part of this site would be dedicated to introducing parts of my life that aren't so well known to others.
